I have the stars – here,
lining my pockets
in all their glittering wonder
how I wish I could bring them to you
let you share in their splendor
but they are not mine to give;
plentiful though they are
were I to steal but one from the dusky heavens
it would not go unmissed
yet I proffer my outstretched hand to you
empty and cold though it may be
and hope that I have stars enough in my eyes
for you to see the wonders I wish were mine to give
the ones I long to share
in hopes that they may kiss your dreams
as blissfully as they have my own.
