Leggy Snack

I found this harvestman out in our front yard carrying around the leg of another harvestman (if you count total legs in the picture, you'll find there are nine and harvestmen only have eight). I can only assume it intended on eating the extra leg. The small red dot near the back of the harvestman is a parasitic mite. The small protrusion near the front of the harvestman with the little black dots on it are its eyes.

Harvestmen are arachnids, but are not spiders; they do not have any venom nor can they make webs. Although they have eight legs, many are often missing one or more since their legs become easily detached. Harvestmen are completely harmless to humans.
